The Dark Lion of Abel

Continuing the post I started yesterday here are some more Anima Tactics miniatures I recently completed.  This one is the dreaded Samiel, the Black Lion from the Empire faction.  He is a beast in the game and features some very interesting background.  The miniature is quite dynamic and features his spectral beast to add to his base.  I decided to paint him like the art with his black armor and stark white hair.  In the art he wears all black which can be difficult to pull off without looking boring.  I decided to go with some grey to weather his cloak and give it some subtle difference from the armor.  I went with a lush green base to match the rest of my Empire and also give a dark model some color and life.

Everyone has their favorites...

So like the title says everyone has their favorite miniature game and one of my favorites just happens to be Anima Tactics.  For me it really came down to the aesthetics and the gameplay.  It is something of a hidden gem and not what I would call a mainstream game by any means.  The game originated, like many out there, as an RPG.  The world is a vivid and detailed one blending Asian and Western cultural themes, long lost high technology with magic, and a rich, detailed personalities.  The game features some fun mechanics and many unique characters.  Why do I mention all this on a blog about my painting?  Well because I painted some recently and wanted to show them off.  These are my demo sets and feature some really nice miniatures.  These are the Light and Dark starters available through Cipher Studios and each feature two highly detailed miniatures as well as rules, dice, tokens, and cards.  The Dark Starter features two figures from the Samael faction, Dark Chesire and Bael.  Both were single piece miniatures yet featured some truly detailed features.  the Light Starter on the other hand contains figures from two separate factions, Kronen of the Sacred Holy Empire of Abel and Saint Evangeline of the Church.  These figures however were two part miniatures but assembly was a breeze with the parts fitting perfectly.  I painted these up to match the gorgeous art and gave them simple bases that contrasted nicely with the paint schemes.  Enjoy these pictures of the two boxes.
